I used to be the only vegan I knew. That was a lonely place to be, so I shared some information and books with some friends, and pretty soon a few of them joined me. Yippee! Not an only-vegan anymore!
My now-husband, Charlie, wasn’t vegan when we met, but I had made a commitment to a vegan household so he knew that being vegan came with the territory if he wanted to be with me. He jokes that it was a “prenuptial agreement.” He loved the food, so it was easy for him to make the change. And after learning the reasons for being vegan, he became as committed as I was – - – okay, almost as committed as I was.
Then I began teaching vegan cooking classes, and the pond of vegans began to grow more quickly. It was getting more fun every day to be vegan! Vegan potlucks, vegan study groups, a vegan cookbook, and the Alaska Vegetarian Society eventually evolved from those early efforts.
Last year I decided to play a bigger game, so Charlie and I created an online nutrition and cooking course (Yes To Life Nutrition & Cooking Course) that is accessible worldwide, to anyone with an internet connection. I’ve added coaching programs, VIP days, and an Immersion program. The momentum is growing.
That brings me up to yesterday. Drum roll please . . . .
Yesterday I received an invitation to be a speaker in the online tele-summit, Veganpalooza. So now I’m stepping into a much bigger pond. I’m excited, honored, and grateful for this opportunity!
So what is Veganpalooza? Last year’s premiere Veganpalooza was the largest worldwide vegan virtual event in history. When you register, you’ll get to hear interviews with world-class leaders in everything related to plant-based diets and a vegan lifestyle: health, vegan cooking, vegan fitness, compassion for animals, concern for the environment, and spiritual connection.
This free 4-day event takes place August 15-18, 2013, and you don’t want to miss it. You’ll learn the what’s, why’s, and how’s of incorporating healthier eating into your life AND contributing to a healthier, more compassionate world. (I wish I’d had an event like this to support me 20 years ago!) Click here to register.
Veganpalooza is free to attend during these 4 days, but if you’re like me, you can’t drop everything else in your life for 4 days. So you have the option of investing in the VIP program which gives you access to the recorded interviews so you can listen at your convenience. You know how it is . . . you listen in your car, while you’re on your bike, in the kitchen, while taking a walk. We’re so used to having access anytime and anywhere, and the VIP program gives you that, for just $97.
In addition, there are some bonuses that are ONLY available to those who get the VIP program. And I’m one of those bonuses! I’ll be speaking on Friday night at 6 p.m. Pacific time. I’d feel really honored to have you there
As a kid, I was painfully shy and would have been horrified to even consider speaking to an international audience. Now, because I’m so committed to my mission of helping to create a healthier and more compassionate world, I’m totally honored to be able to step into this bigger pond. (Okay, maybe a little nervous, too.) But I know that as each of us takes the opportunity to share our own healthy messages with others, this world becomes just a bit friendlier and healthier. Thanks for all you do!
